Since it’s inception ISF programs worked within market realities
to provide incentives for sustainable forest management. As the first
domestic certifier of sustainably harvested wood products ISF played a
key role in the development of the SmartWood™ national certification
network. With certification in place, and with a deepening understanding
of the impact of trade and policy on periodic cycles in forest products
markets in the Pacific Northwest, ISF continues to support the development
of effective policy and market-based strategies for non-industrial landowners
practicing SmartWood and Forest
Stewardship Council certified resource management.
